The trend of aging population has becoming a topic of concern in Hong Kong. It is common for elderly people to experience dysphagia which hinders the enjoyment of food and affects nutrient absorption. In view of the importance of “care food”, Miss Lai-chong Au, CEO of Delta Asia Financial Group, led a team of colleagues to take part in the Soft Meal Making Workshop at The Project Futurus, a social enterprise that explores the future of aging through education, soft meal workshops, community service and advocacy. Miss Queenie Man, Founder & CEO of The Project Futurus, introduced the significance of serving the elderlies while maintaining dignity, shared relevant health and diet information and taught the skills of making soft meals. Colleagues found the hands-on experience valuable with which they presented shrimp dumpling and siu mai in soft meal version, restoring classic dim sum with the original taste and shape that encourage elderlies with dysphagia to eat with dignity and grace.
In addition, colleagues will take part in the “Sensory Restaurant on Wheels™” by visiting an elderly home on 19 August. We hope through this nostalgic and immersive Chinese dim sum soft meals, the elderlies’ appetite can be improved and stimulated in an enjoyable way while allowing us to give back to society in a meaningful, creative and impactful way. Please stay tuned to our upcoming sharing.
