2025.08.21 Building Resilience: Strategies for Modern Mental Wellness

Amidst the hustle and bustle of urban life, mental health has become a cornerstone of building a harmonious society. As such, a health seminar was launched on 21 August at the New Orient Landmark Hotel Macau, welcoming over 400 guests from various sectors of the community. Renowned experts from the fields of medical, psychology, policy, and technology were invited to share insights on effective stress management and emotional wellness.

In her welcome speech, Ms. Lai-chong Au, CEO of Delta Asia Financial Group, stated that Delta Asia has always adhered to the philosophy of ‘giving back to society’. In celebration of our 90th anniversary, we are proud to collaborate with the Hong Kong Society of Innovative Healthcare to launch this first seminar by gathering cross-disciplinary experts, we aim to explore ways to strengthen society’s psychological resilience and build a more caring community together. Dr. Ko Wing-man, GBS, JP, Member of the Executive Council of Hong Kong and former Secretary for Food and Health, delivered a video address, acknowledging that mental health is of utmost importance and this seminar is launched with the aim to raise public awareness, eliminate stigma, and build an inclusive social network that protects mental well-being.”

Dr. Liu Shao-Haei, MH, Founding President of the Society for Innovative Healthcare Hong Kong, remarked that mental health is the cornerstone of public health and social stability and suggests governments should strengthen policy support to safeguard society’s “psychological immune system.” Dr. Vitus Leung Wing-hang, BBS, JP, sponsor of the We Care SOS Programme added that mental health support systems need integration across social welfare, healthcare, education, and digital resources to provide skill training and community support. In addition, Dr. Francesca Sin, Director of La Violet Charity Foundation, explained that citizens can manage stress by cultivating mindfulness, emotional awareness, and early recognition mechanisms. Incorporating aerobic exercise, healthy eating, breathing techniques, and deep conversations can also help release stress and foster holistic wellness. At the same time, Mr. Allen Au, Founder of 0xmd and an expert in AI medical applications, shared that with the rise of Generative AI, more youth are turning to AI chatbots as digital companions. We need to explore how this technology can serve as a positive force for mental health rather than a new form of hidden addiction.”

Following the talks, a panel discussion facilitated by Miss Lai-chong Au engaged the four speakers in a lively exchange with the audience. Attendees expressed that they found the event deeply insightful and enriching.

We hope this seminar will raise public awareness of holistic wellness. Looking ahead, we plan to host more themed seminars to co-create a healthier and more harmonious society with the people of Macau. Stay tuned for more updates!
